Dorosia (Annette Benin Annette Bening) brings up her son Jamie (Lucas Jade Zuman Lucas Jade Zumann) on her own, and only she knows the hardship and bitterness. Jamie is deeply in love with a girl named Julie (Ellie Fanning Elle Fanning), but Julie, who has had a physical relationship with a lot of people, is looking for spiritual attachment on Jamie. Although they often share the same bed, they still struggle to maintain a pure friendship, which makes Jamie feel very distressed. Gradually entering puberty, Jamie shows some qualities that worry Dorothea.
