Adapted from Oscar Wilde's play "Mrs. Wen's Fan". Mrs. Irene (Helen Hunt is acted the role of) is a beautiful social flower, she calmly moves around among all kinds of men, enjoys the honorable treatment of the goddess, is also regarded as a scourge by their wives, and is notorious among real socialite ladies. Affected by the economic depression in the United States in the 1930s, Irene came to Italy to look for new opportunities. As usual, her appearance was like a boulder thrown into the lake, disrupting people's quiet lives. These include a good woman Meg (Scarlett Johansson) and her husband Windermere, who is so angry at her husband's affair that she is determined to treat him in her own way, and a battle between love and morality has begun.
