Alice (Katherine Hepburn Katharine Hepburn) and her brother Walter (Frank Albertson Frank Albertson) go to a big party together, where the lonely Alice meets the rich man Arthur (Fred McMurray Fred MacMurray) who invites him to dance. Looking at the handsome and gentle man in front of him, Alice falls in love instantly. On the one hand, Alice wanted to get close to Arthur, but at the same time, she didn't want Arthur to see her poor family. Finally, Arthur was going to be a guest at Alice's house, and Alice and her mother worked hard to entertain the "distinguished guest".
