In the 1970s, Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington) was the driver of gangster boss Johnson in the Harlem ghetto. After Johnson's sudden death, Frank took full advantage of this hard-won opportunity to reorganize all the power distribution in the underworld, successfully take over the business of bigwigs, and control the drug trade. During this period, he went to the Golden Triangle of Southeast Asia to smuggle high-purity heroin, enlisted his own family brothers, gathered a group of men who worked for him, and a dark force was on the rise. On the other side, the policeman Ricky Roberts (Russell Crowe) has a broken family, is out of tune with mainstream society, and lingers in the streets all day. He gradually became aware of the surging winds and clouds in the drug circle, and launched a secret investigation. With the deepening of the investigation, the distance between Roberts and Lucas is getting shorter and shorter, and two men with similar temperament and sympathy for each other will inevitably face each other head-on.
