A group of children on the banks of the Doro River welcomed their new members. The shy boy had to steal a doll to gain acceptance. He fell in love with the only girl in the gang, but she was also the "boss" with a good heart. Olivera's first work as a director, influenced by Walter Rutman's "Berlin: the City Symphony", was shot with a camera bought by his father. This film was unearthed and shown by Barrois assistant director, and became the representative Portuguese film of this period. "Point refers to soldiers" is a children's game on the streets of Italy. Olivera employs almost all non-professional child actors, interprets the story of "guilt and fear, desire and deviance" and practices neo-realism in advance. It is considered to be the most outstanding film in Portugal in the 1940s.
