It is said that the story in the original work is based on the "master of crime" in real life. The protagonist Evert Backstrom (Rainn Wilson) is known as the "detective version of Dr. House," a grumpy, self-destructive fat man. He tries to change his behavior, but he always gives up halfway. He can say what he wants and never hide it-surprisingly, his instincts are often right. He is a heavy drinker, a heavy smoker and a lover of junk food.
