The two men assassinated the admiral, but failed. In 1865, Rongma tried to get the staff sergeant to cooperate with Josh to overthrow the shogunate. The two actions of the shogunate failed to command Josh in order to reduce his position of power. On October 15, 1867, the Japanese royal family was finally able to rule the country.
