Fielding Mellish (Woody Allen Woody Allen) is a clerk in a product testing company. He falls in love with a girl named Nancy (Louise Russell Louise Lasser). Nancy is keen on social movements and democratic revolutions, but has little interest in Mellish. She went to a country called San Marcos to participate in the local revolution, and Mellish went there to follow her sweetheart. He joined the revolutionary army by mistake, and after a bloody battle, the revolution finally succeeded. The leader of the original revolutionary army became the new dictator, which was immediately overthrown, and Mellish was elected as the new leader. Mellish even visited the United States as a national leader and received a grand reception. Nancy also admired the revolutionary leader and tried to get close to him, but she didn't expect it to be the Mellish she had dumped.
