Mace Bishop returned home from the Civil War and set out to find his brother, but when he heard that his brother Dee was caught robbing a bank in Texas and faced being hanged, he pretended to be an executioner to the rescue, but on the spur of the moment robbed the bank of $10,000. Then the brothers and their accomplices fled across the border to Mexico and took the newly widowed Mrs. Stoner hostage. The sheriff, who had been chasing Mrs. Stoner, was also in hot pursuit, and although both brothers fell in love with Mrs. Stoner, Mace hoped that his brother would mend his ways and go to colonize Montana with Mrs. Stona. But they were besieged in an abandoned town by local bandits in Mexico.
