In 1931, the Spanish monarchy was replaced by a Republican system. Fernando (Georg Sands Jorge Sanz), a deserter of the Madrid army, is questioned by two guards during the escape. Among them, the veteran decided to let it go, but the young soldier felt that it was not in line with the military order. The two men began to argue, from which Fernando learned that they were sons-in-law. Later, the son-in-law beat his father-in-law to death by mistake and regretted shooting himself. Seeing this, Fernando, frightened, fled in a hurry. He meets the wandering artist Manolo (Fernando Fernand Gomez Fernando Fern á n G ó mez) during his stay. Before leaving, Manolo decided to give him a ride and pick up his daughter at the station. When Fernando saw his four beautiful daughters, he decided to find an excuse to stay. He successively had emotional entanglements with these four women, which led to a farce that made people laugh. The film won the 66th Academy Award for Best Foreign language Film, beating the Chinese film Farewell my Concubine.
