Beneath Clouds (2002)

Lena is a young girl who hates life in remote rural areas. She is well aware of her situation and her life is hard to change. She is half indigenous and half Irish. Her brother went to steal cigarette boxes, and her best friend told her she was pregnant. Perhaps in desperate resistance, she left her mother and went to Sydney in search of an Irish father she had never met. During the trip she met Vaughn, a black escapee who went to Sydney to visit her dying mother. Two people escape from real and imagined confinement, looking forward to waiting for their freedom in the big city. The two formed a friendship, but they were still cautious and hesitant to go to each other's heart. Lena blurred her bloodline, her white face made it easy to think she was Irish, and Vaughn had to face the racial prejudices they had encountered during their journey.
