This is a colorful, tearful film about a poor Ukrainian family living near the Romanian border during World War II. The five sons of the family formed the village band, but as the fighting between Nazi-backed Ukrainian nationalists and Soviet soldiers intensified, their band lost one member after another. In the film, the hero Bogdan Stupka is one of the famous actors in Ukraine. Born into a musical family in the Lviv region of Ukraine. In 1978, Bogdan came to Kiev and began more than 20 years of work in the Ukrainian theatre. In 1999, Bogdan was appointed Minister of Literature and Art of Ukraine. After a short two-year term, he resolutely gave up his position as minister to become the director of the Ukrainian Drama Ivan Frank National academic Theater, starting his second career.
