Nigel (Hugh Grant Hugh Grant) is caught up in a seven-year itch of marriage. He and his wife Fiona (Kristen Scott Thomas Kristin Scott Thomas) decide to travel to India on a cruise ship to try to change the bad relationship. On the boat, he meets the paralyzed writer Oscar (Peter Coyote Peter Coyote) and his beautiful wife Mimi (Emmanuel Senna Emmanuelle Seigner).
