Club owner Norman hopes to avoid excessive publicity on the eve of the televised American Professional Football League and encourage his new career Roy to quietly find out the truth of the incident. Roy has had a drinking problem since he died of suffocation in a big game a few years ago. Kelly felt she should be hired as a new professional, but she didn't make Roy's situation any easier, insisting they would cancel the game before the killer was stopped. After the arrest of an old character named Uncle Slater, the owner relaxed, but Roy and Kelly began to feel that the uncle's impassioned speech was not so far-fetched to the runaway lawnmower. After the uncle was released, the three of them were ready to fight a decisive battle on the unknown fairway.
