Jesse's best friend Bobby is about to move, which makes Jesse feel very depressed. Jesse's aunt Millie (Brenda Bryce Brenda Blethyn) tells Jesse a story about the protagonist Katie. Katie's greatest wish is to be able to skate. In order to realize this wish, Katie practices hard at the skating rink outside her home every day. In the process, Katie meets a good friend named Otto. The latter is a former Olympic skating champion. Otto patiently handed over all his skills to Katie, and with the passage of time, the two formed a very deep friendship. Just as Katie's skating skills are getting better and better, her father has lost his job and the family is about to move to another city, which means that Katie and Otto are going to separate.
