The film is adapted from Breakfast On Pluto, the best-selling novel of the same name by British Booker Prize-nominated author Patrick McCabe. It tells the story of the 1970s when the transvestite boy Patrick Brendan (Hillian Murphy Cillian Murphy) never changed himself and kept looking for his mother in the face of public criticism. Patrick is abandoned by his parents as a baby and adopted by a priest (Liam Neeson Liam Neeson). But from an early age, he likes to wear girls' clothes and fantasize about being a girl. He doesn't know who his mother is, let alone where she is now. When Patrick grew up, wearing a blond wig and rich make-up, he refused to change himself, but he didn't know how such an "outlier" could be tolerated in this harsh environment. Along the way, Patrick met all kinds of strangers looking for his mother. Actor Hillian Murphy was nominated for Best Actor in Comedy / Music at the 63rd Golden Globe Awards for her excellent performance in Breakfast on Pluto.
