After World War II, with excellent service in a significant lack, Corporal raincoat Smith (Abbott) and private Herbie Brown (Loukostello) returned to the United States. Hiding from them sourpussed Sheriff Collins (Nat Pendleton), raincoat and Herbie smuggling immigration authorities have cute little war orphans in the past, Ivy (Fukang Simmons). In their efforts to find a decent home for Evie, our heroes return to the pre-war "work" of sidewalk salesmen and then make a catastrophic attempt to collect their gastrointestinal bonuses. They also tried to expel Evie from thrift, hiding as a police officer from peeping eyes everywhere in Collins, who also worked for civilians back to him. The best part is that Herbie takes part in a big-money dwarf car race, feverishly avoiding pedestrians and drivers as he tries to evade the authorities.
