At the end of the 19th century, the famous "Tiger Leopard" Butch (Paul Newman Paul Newman) and his partner Sun Dance Boy (Robert Redford Robert Redford) rob banks in a small town in the western United States, wrestling with opponents and wit with the police. Once, the two men robbed the "Flying Man" company mail car, which attracted the pursuit of the sheriff and local residents. But they still go their own way, having a good time with Etta (Catherine Ross Katharine Ross), a female teacher. When they robbed the Flying Man mail car again, a team of troopers chased them and carried out a manhunt, forcing Butch and the sun dancer to escape. The two men who jumped off the cliff and fled for their lives found ETA and negotiated to make a living in Bolivia. In a foreign country, they try to wash their hands and take the right path, but they still think that this kind of life is not suitable for them, so they go back to their old jobs.
