Calendar (1993)

A Canadian photographer was hired to photograph a traditional church in Amenia for a calendar, accompanied by his wife (played by Igoyan's wife) and acted as an interpreter for him. They hired a local driver who happened to be an expert in construction. The film tells the story of a love triangle through flashback: the photographer snubbed his wife because he was busy with his work, while the wife found a deeper and deeper sense of belonging locally. In the end, the photographer returned to Canada alone and advertised locally for a female partner.
