In 1934, the Soviet overseas espionage Agency secretly recruited three young students at the University of Cambridge in England. their names were Philby, Boggs and McLean. At that time, the British Isles were still overshadowed by the world economic crisis, fascist Germany and Italy rose in continental Europe, and the Soviet Union under Stalin's iron fist was seen by many Western idealistic youth as a force to hope and save peace. In Britain, Cambridge University became the stronghold of the left, which formed the famous Cambridge spies gang (CAMBRIDGE SPY RING) in the history of world intelligence. After the outbreak of the second World War, almost all members of the Cambridge espionage gang were employed by the British government to work in some key departments. Philby joined the Special Operations Service (Special Operations Executive) in 1940, which was tasked with directing intelligence operations in continental Europe. The following year, Philby moved to the famous M16, the British Foreign Intelligence Service, and became the head of a department in 1944. Ironically, the mission of this ministry is intelligence work on the Soviet Union. Among other members, Boggs joined the British Foreign Office.
