Captain Newman, M.D. (1963)

During World War II, Captain Josiah Newman was in charge of the neuropsychiatric ward of Arizona Desert Hospital. He often uses unconventional ways to play against people, including Jackson Leibowitz of the New order. Among the patients in the ward was the suicidal Colonel bliss, who finally climbed the water tower, and a scarred corporal named Tompkins, who revealed his troubles with the mantra of pentosodium. Newman also assisted Captain Winston in his marriage and enjoyed a flirt or two with his chief nurse, Lieutenant Colm.
