This is a true story from the 1920s. Dora (Emma Thompson Emma Thompson) is a painter in the English literary circle. She is handsome and has an incomprehensible sense of emotion in her heart; the same character can be seen in the writer Leighton (Jonathan Press Jonathan Pryce). They connect with each other and place their true love on each other, but at the same time find comfort in others. While falling in love with Dora, Leighton is also in love with another man, Partridge (Stephen Waddington Steven Waddington), so Dora chooses to marry Partridge to keep her beloved Leighton. When Partridge's friend Gero (Samuel West Samuel West) comes from afar, Dora and the new friend soon fall in love. Throughout their lives, they wandered among different roles, and when Leighton died of illness, Dora took her own life. Maybe the true love in Dora and Leighton has been delivered to each other.
