This film depicts the famous break between Emile Zola, a great master of French literature, and Cezanne, a master of Impressionist painting. In the picturesque countryside of Provence, the young Zola and Cezanne appreciated and inspired each other, discussed the true meaning of art together, and forged a profound friendship. As the two get closer to their ideals in their respective art fields, the realistic Zola and the romantic Cezanne can no longer understand each other. Their friendship also came to an end.
