Retired policeman Tom (Samuel Jackson Samuel L. Jackson) runs a company that cleans up crime scenes. His main job is to help the families of the victims take care of the aftermath of the murder. Although the work was filthy and trivial, he summed up the business experience from it. He and his clever daughter depend on each other. The death of the mother made her daughter particularly dependent on her father. Every time he doesn't come home at night, his daughter feels uneasy. After a job of cleaning up the murder scene, he meets the victim's wife (Eva Mendes Eva Mendes) and is surprised to find that his former colleague (Eddard Harris Ed Harris) has loopholes in the case, while he has indirectly become an accomplice. At the beginning, Tom left angrily because he couldn't stand the corruption of the police force.
