Music-loving Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez Anthony Gonzalez) was unfortunately born into a large family that regards music as a scourge. The family only hopes that Miguel will grow up quickly so that he can inherit the shoe industry that has been passed down for generations. The annual Day of the Dead is approaching, on which the souls of the deceased can be reunited with the living by virtue of the photos placed on the altar. In an accident, Miguel unexpectedly crossed into the land of the undead. Before the sun rises, he must get the blessing of a relative, or he will stay in this world forever. Miguel decided to look for the late Dracus (voiced by Benjamin Blatter Benjamin Bratt) because he was probably his grandfather. On the way, Miguel met the fallen musician Hector (voiced by Gail Garcia Benard Gael Garc í a Bernal) and gradually discovered the secret that Dracus had hidden for a long time.
