With the outbreak of the second World War, the first golden era of the Japanese film industry came to an end. Out of the necessity of war propaganda, the Japanese government regulated the film industry with extremely stringent means and required major film studios to make national policy films that inspired the hearts and minds of the people. During this period, the budding Kinoshita Keisuke (Karase Liang) was commissioned by the Ministry of War to film the third Anniversary of the Greater East Asian War-the Army based on the novel of Huo Ye Wei Ping. Who knew that the purport of the film was at odds with the official intention, and Kinoshita was punished with a ban on filming. After that, the frustrated Kinoshita resigned from Songzhu and returned to his sick mother Ah Yu (Tanaka Yuko). The war situation has not improved at all, and the once tranquil and comfortable city of Hamamatsu cannot stay long. Kinoshita decides to take his mother to the mountains with his brother Min San (Yujie Zhongshan). This is the most frustrated moment for a generation of masters, and it is also the moment when he and his family are closest to their hearts.
