The play, a remake of the 1959 film of the same name, premiered on Pro7 on the evening of September 29, 2008, German time. The basic plot is the same as the old movie version. The story takes place in Nazi Germany in April 1945. At the end of the war, several German teenagers who had reached the age of 16 were drafted into the army. As a result of the successful brainwashing education of the Nazis, these teenagers joined the German army with enthusiasm to defend their motherland. At last they were sent to guard a bridge in their hometown town. The sergeant major, who was supposed to lead the teenagers, was the first to escape and was shot dead by the gendarmerie. The teenagers refused the persuasion of the female teachers and parents who heard the news, brought some useful equipment from the abandoned barracks and set up firepower points by the bridge little by little. And all this is because of the so-called orders of the escaped general when crossing the bridge. A few days later, the teenagers succeeded in blocking the momentum of an American vanguard. But the war was cruel, and while the teenagers were performing their tasks with their lives, a German corps of engineers was ordered to blow up the bridge.
