Adapted from Tim Winton's novel of the same name, the fragile woman Georgie (MacDonald) meets the mysterious musician Lu (Hedlund) and falls in love in a well-connected Australian town. However, Georgie is married, she does not love her husband Jim (David Wenhan), Jim's dead ex-wife left several sons, she can not take the place of mother. Georgie wants to let go of his love with Lu, but Lu is so caught up in the pain of his past that he can't face the present. He has fled into the remote and harsh Australian inland wilderness. Georgie's husband learned about this and decided to correct his past mistakes and help Georgie find a true lover. Georgie also decided to do whatever it takes to get Lu back and find himself.
