Superb skill and talent have won numerous trophies and honors for jockey Ben Cohen (Kurt Russell), but as the years go by, he is slowly left behind by an endless stream of newcomers and becomes "trash" waiting to be dealt with. He has the same fate as Sonya, the old horse, who has won numerous races for his master as a promising seed, but became a "waste" in the eyes of his owner after he broke his hind leg in a competition due to excessive intensity. Later, Sonya was given to Ben Cohen as severance pay by her master. Ben Cohen's frustration was fully seen by his daughter Kyle (Dakota Finney). In order to help her father and Sonya regain their confidence, she made a detailed plan. first, she persuaded Ben Cohen to take good care of Sonya with her. when Sonya got back on her feet little by little, she tried to get Ben Cohen to take on the seemingly impossible task of winning the Horse Breeders Cup Classic.
