East Is East (1999)

The story takes place in the 1970 s, George. Kehan is a Pakistani living in Salford, England, who runs a private shop. George。 Cohan's wife, Ella, is an out-and-out Englishman born in Lancashire, northwest England. They have seven children altogether. George is determined to get the family to comply with traditional Pakistani values and morals, but the seven children have their own ideas. For George, life is more like a long compromise. Naughty daughter Mina likes to play football with boys rather than dress herself up; hippie son Sarin is ostensibly studying engineering, but in fact he is in art school; Tariq, who is full of erotic romance, has become a famous local vagabond; Saghid is still a naughty baby. In order not to become the victim of another arranged marriage tragedy in the family, Nigel simply escaped and went to Eccles to start a hat business and support himself. George forced them to marry the daughter of Mr. Xia, a respectable and wealthy butcher, in order to bring his other two sons into submission.
