Love and anarchy, released in 1973, is a film directed by Lena Walter Muller and starring Giancarlo Giovanni and Marie Angela Merato. Set in fascist Italy on the eve of World War II, the hero (Giancarlo Giovanni) is an anarchist who lurks in a brothel waiting for an opportunity to assassinate Benito Mussolini. While planning the assassination, the hero fell in love with a prostitute in a brothel. The film shows the hero's extremely emotional love and hatred of fascism, as well as his fear of being killed after the assassination of Mussolini. Love and anarchy was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival. The actor Giovanni won the best actor award.
