The young painter Jacques hitchhiked from the country to Paris. On the night he arrived in Paris, he ran into Marthe, who was about to commit suicide by throwing himself into the river. Jacques saved her and accompanied her home, and they agreed to meet again the next night. The next night, Jacques and Marthe exchanged life stories, and at Marthe's request, Jacques became a messenger between Marthe and her lover. However, the unkind lover did not reply to the letter, which made Marthe very upset. Over the next two nights, Jacques's affection for Marthe was finally answered, and Marthe poured out his love to Jacques. On the fourth night, while the two were walking arm in arm, they ran into Marthe's former lover. This film is adapted from Fyodor Dostoevsky's short story White Night.
