Janet Hassan (Janet Hallson) is the heroine of the upcoming Broadway play, which is in intense rehearsal. Only a few weeks before the premiere, Janet dropped out of the show because she disagreed with dance director Ted Sturgess. The show's producers Ted Sturgess, Leo Beirne and Bob Dodi began looking for a replacement for her heroine. After a short audition, Madeleine Colin, Joana Moss and Susie Doolittle stood out, each with a different appearance and charm. The rest of the film tells how they finally choose in a series of music and dance scenes.
