God Told Me To (1976)

The storyline of the film involves a series of unmotivated murders committed by residents of New York: a sniper shot a sniper from a water tower; a father murdered his family; and during a St. Patrick's Day parade, a policeman opened fire on the crowd. The only thing that crimes have in common is that the perpetrators calmly admit guilt and explain, "this is the will of God." In investigating the murder, Catholic policeman Peter Nicholas was increasingly plagued by the testimony of a man named Bernard Phillips, and they found that every killer who appeared seemed unable to get rid of his own fate associated with this mystery. As he approached the truth, his worst fears were confirmed.
