Gundala (2019)

Director Joe Anwar, who once starred in the highest-grossing ghost film in Indonesian film history with Ghost, decided to put the half-century Indonesian classic Gundala on the big screen instead of Marvel and DC in his new action film, the Flash Gundara. Gundala not only has the appearance of the Flash, the power of Thor, the leadership of Captain America, and the left-wing spirit of the V geek, coupled with the fierce action and dazzling visual effects comparable to Ip Man, it is both approachable and global. The film not only made a high box office, but also won praise for its director, actor, technology and originality, and was shortlisted for nine awards at the Indonesian Academy Awards.
