Since the mother of Xiaolian (voiced by Yoshiko Sugiyama) died, she was raised by her aunt. Because her aunt was going to work in the city, she was sent to the home of her strange grandfather (voiced by Yukuhei Miyuchi) who lived in the Alps. Since the arrival of Xiaolian, Grandpa has slowly fallen in love with this naive, lively and kind little granddaughter. There are birds and flowers everywhere in the Alps. Xiaolian plays with all kinds of animals to make friends with them and protect them. Once the little milksheep got sick and Xiao Lian climbed to the cliff to step on the herbs to cure the disease. Xiaolian and free-range baby Xiaodou (voiced by Ohara Nai Pear) have fun and interesting things happening every day in the Alps and spend every day happily. In a twinkling of an eye, when Xiaolian was eight years old, her aunt took her to the city to be a playmate for Xiaofen (voiced by Riboko Yoshida, the sickly daughter of a rich man). What will happen to Xiaolian when she arrives in the city? will she live as happily as she did in the Alps?
