Anaisning (Maria de Medeiros Maria de Medello), the wife of banker Hugo Hugo (Richard E. Grant), is elegant in appearance but addicted to D. H. The wild woman of Lawrence's writing. Introduced by her husband, Anaise becomes acquainted with the decadent and rough-looking novelist Henry Miller (Fred Ward Fred Ward), who is fascinated by the wise man and then attracted by Henry's wife Joan (Uma Thurman Uma Thurman). At the behest of Joan, Anais began to take care of Henry's life, running around for his novel the Tropic of Cancer, which gave rise to periods of wild and passionate joy. The film was nominated for an Oscar for best screenplay in 1991.
