Following the Yuehong reported in the magazine, the Japanese boy Lingxio (General Okada) and his girlfriend traveled to the island of Hawaii and met an old-fashioned cinema in the village of Honoka at the north end of the island. Six months later, Lingxiong, who was suspended from college, returned to town alone to work as a projection assistant in the cinema. He gradually integrates into the simple and serene life of the place, and becomes friends with his mother-in-law (Baisho Tieko), who is good at cooking and loves mischief. Bi's mother-in-law invited Lingxiong to her house to enjoy delicious food every day, and the two went together to wait for Yuehong in the valley. One day Lingxiong became acquainted with the lively and smiling girl Malaya (played by Hasegawa run), who soon became the sunshine of his life. Left out in the cold than her mother-in-law, Lingxiong was unaware of it. On the night of her birthday, Ling Xiong took Malaia to her mother-in-law's house for dinner. Malaia was admitted to the hospital because of her mother-in-law's cooking allergy. Lingxiong called to question Bei's mother-in-law, but learned the news that she was suddenly blind. At the same time, the cinema where Lingxiong works is facing closure. In the gentle sea breeze of Hawaii, the boy quietly experienced the choice of growing up. The film is adapted from Yoshida's essay book of the same name, written by the author's personal experience, and many of the characters in the book actually exist. The theme song "Hongkui Xiaochuang" is sung by Koizumi today.
