This film depicts the obvious differences between the values and morals of the two generations of the elderly farmer and his son Hurd in Texas, showing the concept and living conditions of modern young people in the United States with a rebellious spirit. In this film, Paul Newman interpreted the sinful hard incisively and vividly, and was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar that year. Although he later lost to Sidney Poitier's "Lilies of the Field", the Oscar still awarded the best actress to Padricia Nell, Maowen Douglas won the best supporting actor, and also won the best photography award.
