In Absentia (2000)

"absence" combines black and white and color, real people and animation, and other elements. The woman in the film, EH, a female painter in a mental shelter, repeatedly writes to her husband with a broken pencil lead, and outside her window, a beam of ever-changing light shows her spirit. The light reflected between the prism-like mirrors is accompanied by occasional mournful screams of a woman coming out of her mind-the heroine's face has hardly been seen throughout the film to reflect anonymity and to simulate the mirror image in her brain by other means. It is worth mentioning that the composer Stockhausen Karlheinz, who played "a couple" for the film, cried during the soundtrack because the film reminded him of his mother, who was captured by the Nazis during World War II.
