James Franco's latest gay sex art film is a restoration remake of Al Pacino's 1980 controversial film Cruising. Oscar director William Friedkin's film, which reflects gay underground SM culture, was classified as X-rated by the American rating Association MPAA because of its shocking subject matter. In order to pass the censorship, the film was finally forced to be deleted for 40 minutes so as to be upgraded to an R-rated film. However, the deletion seriously affected the quality of the film, and the golden plum sent the film directly to the blacklist of the worst films of the year. In 2010, Friedkin planned to launch a full collection version for the 30th anniversary of Hukou Cruise, but the issuer Warner Bros. found that the cut of the original film could not be found. This film is not a remake of the original plot, but a restoration of the scene filmed that year, telling the lost 40 minutes from Franco's point of view in the form of a film. ◎ QAF
