The story takes place in a remote town. The inexplicable disappearance of Tom (Robert Milli) makes police officer John (Donald Sutherland Donald Sutherland) puzzled. With a sense of responsibility and justice, he decides to pursue the case. Tom had a close relationship with a call girl named Daniels (Jane Fonda Jane Fonda) before he disappeared, and John came to New York according to a love letter between them. In the process of spying on Daniels, John found a lot of suspicious things in the mysterious woman, and she seemed to be tracking someone. After that, the appearance of another victim makes the whole case become sinister, and with the deepening of the investigation, a man named Cobor (Charles Cioffi) surfaced to sleep, is he the one John is looking for?
