L.I.E. (2001)

Howie (Paul Dano Paul Dano) is a 16-year-old boy with a sprouting personality, but he seldom gets his father's attention at home. In the face of unscrupulous sex between his father and stepmother, he can only choose to be deaf. Howie has to hang out with a group of boys of the same age, pretending to talk about sex and women, but he has inexplicable feelings for one of them named Gary (Billy Kay Billy Kay) and begins to listen to him and follow him to petty theft in other neighborhoods. After a not-so-successful burglary, the two got a set of guns and planned to sell them to raise money for the trip. The owner of the gun is an old man who calls himself "Big John" (Brian Cox Brian Cox). He shrewdly finds Howie and wants to return the gun from them, but inadvertently pokes the fragility of the boys' friendship and approaches Howie's lonely heart. Howie knows very well that John is just a pedophile old man, but he seems to have found a missing fatherly love in him. ©Douban
