Simon Beurie, often referred to as the abbot of Augustine, ran a girls' monastery school in the 1960s. She turned the small monastery into a hall of music, and her students achieved excellent musical results in the area. She suffered a severe blow when her naturally intelligent but rebellious niece joined the convent and the government threatened to close schools to promote public education.
