This film is Hou Xiaoxian's 1956 short film to French director Albert Lamorisse, the important Le Ballon Rouge in film history, and his second foreign language film after Coffee time. Suzanne (Juliet Binoche Juliette Binoche) is so busy with the voice performances and other trifles of a character in a puppet drama adapted from Chinese Yuanqu, "ask for a wife to cook a sea man," and her husband Pierre is writing a novel in Montreal, Canada, and her son Simon (Simon Iteanu) has become an "encumbrance." helplessly, she hired Song (Song Fang Song Fang), a Chinese girl studying in Paris, to take care of Simon.
