In 1954, when the forces of rebellion grew in the valley, two men fled desperately in the mountains of Algeria. During the harsh winter, Daru, a teacher living alone, had to send the boy Mohanmed, who was accused of murder, to the French authorities. Targeted by vengeful cavalry and residents, the two had to fight for their freedom. The film is inspired by the short story "visitors" in Camus's exile and the Kingdom published in 1957.
