With a father who runs a funeral home and the early death of her mother, the girl Vader (Anna Krumsky Anna Chlumsky) has a deep and alternative view of life and death, and the fear of death haunts Vader all the time. Beside Vader, the boy Thomas (Macaulay Culkin Macaulay Culkin) sees all her joys and sorrows. The only thing the introverted Thomas can do is to accompany the girl gently. The appearance of Shirley (Jamie Lee Curtis Jamie Lee Curtis) gives Vader a strong sense of crisis, and she feels that this woman is likely to share her father's unique attention and love. In an accident caused by Vader, Thomas died and watched his loved one leave him forever.
