The play is based on the story of King Arthur and the sorcerer Merlin and is co-produced by BBC Welsh Television and Shine Pictures. Merlin (Colin Morgan Colin Morgan) is taught by his mother to come to the court from his hometown to look for Gaius, the head of the court physician. There, magic is strictly forbidden by the king. The secret of Merlin's magic was discovered by Gaius. Instead of blaming him, Gaius accepted him as an adopted son and advised him to use his talents on the right path. Merlin also met the ancient dragon locked in the depths of the castle, which told him that he was on a great mission, and that the arduous task was to protect Prince Arthur and make Arthur the future king. In order to protect Arthur by his side, Merlin became Arthur's valet. But things didn't go as smoothly as Merlin thought. The evil witch Nimueh discovered Merlin's great mission and tried to frame him.
