This film, written by Sam Fuller and Milton Spearing, depicts an integrated volunteer force of 2,000 men who are ordered to go to the Burmese battlefield and go through one stronghold battle after another, leaving only 100 men. This film shows the endurance and combat effectiveness of human beings in bad circumstances, and gives a strong interpretation of the famous saying "nothing in the world is difficult for those who set their minds to it". Most of the film was filmed in the forest areas of the Philippines. Director Samuel Fuller handled the character portrayal and war scenes very well. Jeff Chandler, Ty Harding and others all performed brilliantly in the film. Merrill's Marauders, or Mak Detachment for short, was a commando team of the United States Army in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. The official number of the unit is the 5th, 3rd ○ VII temporary sample detachment, and the commander of the force is Brigadier General Frank Merrill. Mak Detachment is also translated as Merrill commando, which is called Meryl commando, which was set up by US President Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill at the Quebec Conference in 1943 to deploy the counter-offensive against Burma.
