Mid-August Lunch (2008)

There is a popular custom in Rome's Las Tivoli district. On the Ascension Day of Notre Dame on August 15, everyone in the city wants to enjoy it with relatives, friends and loved ones. The film is about an unemployed middle-aged man who lives in an apartment with his elderly mother. He was born into a middle-class family but is now poor. The apartment manager asked him to take care of his mother for a few days, and in return he could waive the rent in arrears. The middle-aged man gladly agreed. In the bright sunshine of August, they spent a happy August 15. About director Gianni Di Gregorio won the best director debut award at the 65th Venice Film Festival for "lunch in mid-August". He also served as a screenwriter and associate director in the 61st Cannes Film Festival jury award film "Gemora".
